Baker's Hill: Baked Goods and More for Our Puerto Princesa City Tour (Urban Tour) Eight Stop

It was around lunch time when we Travel Tripsters arrived at Baker's Hill so we entered the bakery and I both Taiwanese buns while Kurt bought their best selling hopia. 

Since the packaging of their baked goods is good for travel.  We left them at the tricycle so we could roam around the place first.

Because it is December, they had Christmas decors.

It's like a mini village with house, gardens and displays.

There's the Baker's Hill Restaurant too.

The pricing seems reasonable and they have buffet options too.

For snacks there's the Baker's Kitchen Brick Oven Pizza.

There is also a free playground for the kids.  And, for adults they have exercise machines.  The blue ones you see over there are for exercising.  Others were seriously exercising there during our visit.  I tried some of them too. =)

They have a garden with pathways and displays which is free for anyone to view.

 It was very colorful and creative.

If you're not in a rush like we are, you can play a game of sungka.  I used to play this often when I was a kid. 

This classic pinoy game thought me how to count and estimate at a tender age. 

It is divided into different gardens.

I've never seen an arrangement with so many cactus before.

There are also birds such as the Golden Pheasant.

There's also a peacock and a talking Maynah Birds that eats bananas.

Overall, we Travel Tripsters enjoyed our roaming spree at Baker's Hill.  You should definitely drop by since it's free anyway.

Iwahig Prison and Penal Farm: Puerto Princesa Correctional Facility or Penal Colony

One of the famous stops in Puerto Princesa Palawan is the Iwahig Prison and Penal Farm were prisoners are free roaming as they exercise or do field works.

We arrived there already in the late afternoon so most prisoners have returned to their cells.

It is a big facility.  There are different structures and farm lands.

Since they have many visitors, there is also the Souvenir Shop a their Recreation Hall.

We checked it out a bit.

There are selling the usual souvenirs like wood craft, trinkets and there are also unique items like the prisoner uniforms.  We found the items too pricey so we didn't buy anything though.

Commodore N. Hernandez (Ret.) Mansion: Our Puerto Princesa City Tour (Urban Tour) Seventh Stop

Although not in the usual Puerto Princesa City Tour or Urban Tour itinerary, we dropped by Commodore N. Hernandez (Ret.) Mansion which we only saw on some blogs. 

It turns out that it is a private property and not open to public anymore as Commodore N. Hernandez (Ret.) is currently living there.  But, since we were already there we asked the nice Commodore who was having his breakfast if we could briefly come in to take a picture.  He was not only friendly, he was very simple and accomodating too while he was enjoying what appears to be pandesal and coffee. 

So here's his nice place with a pool too.

I bet its a dream house for residents in the area.

Palawan Butterfly Garden or Butterfly Sanctuary: Our Puerto Princesa City Tour (Urban Tour) Sixth Stop

We encountered a bit of a drizzle during our visit at Palawan Butterfly Garden or Butterfly Sanctuary.

We paid the entrance fee of 25 php and was allowed to go in.

There was a table with butterfly souvenirs along the way.

 

We were happy to see a garden with a bug net on top.  This got Travel Tripster Kurt and I excited to shoot for butterflies. 

There was also a glass caged Palawan Peacock but they were hiding so we weren't able to capture a photo of them.

 I always appreciate bridges like these and I have no idea why.

There's also a tunnel part.

The place was quite spacious which wasn't apparent from the outside.

We explored it a bit. Then Kurt begun taking photos of butterflies and showing me how great they are so I'd be challenged.  Just to level the playing field, he had a better camera and a better lens.

I caught this one and look at the nice brown and orange color pattern.

Overall, we Travel Tripsters found this to be a fun experience.  We really enjoyed our visit.  It was a perfect way to practice our photography skills too.
